In the morning of May 8th, Lishui Municipal Red Cross Society commemorated the 71st World Red Cross Day on May 8th in NICE Square. The theme of the event this year was Smile — Humanity, for your smile. Vice Mayor and President of Shanghai Red Cross Society Lu Cailiu attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Wu Yuyu, Vice Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipal Government and Vice President of Shanghai Red Cross Society, hosted the ceremony. Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, Municipal Education Bureau, Municipal Finance Bureau, Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Municipal Youth League & Party Committee, Municipal Blood Donation Office, Municipal Maternal and Child Health Center, Municipal Central Blood Station, Liandu Red Cross and Weikang Pharmaceutical Company, and more than 200 volunteers participated in the event.
During recent years, the Red Cross Societies at all levels in our city have always adhered to the Red Cross spirit of humanity, fraternity and dedication, actively participated in the relief of natural disasters, and made efforts to publicize and organize the masses to participate in non-remunerated blood donation, blood stem cell donation and human organ donation, vigorously carrying out social fund-raising activities, actively carrying out on-the-spot rescue training, trying to share the worries of the Party and the government, solving the difficulties for the people, demonstrating the great love of the world, writing a humane chapter, and gaining the recognition and praise of the whole society.
In her speech, Lu Cailiu, vice mayor and president of the Municipal Red Cross Society, demanded that the Red Cross organizations at all levels of the city should effectively perform the duties assigned to them by the Red Cross Law, and spread warmth and care to every corner of the city with sincerity and dedication. She hope that the member units of the Council should play a better role in governing and form a good atmosphere of actually implementaing good ways towards Council Affairs.
Then the volunteers, Chen Yueli, led the workers and volunteers of the Red Cross to make the solemn declaration: I am a part of the Red Cross, I love the Red Cross cause, and I abide by the Red Cross Law. To implement the Constitution of the Red Cross, to uphold the Red Cross flag, to promote the spirit of the Red Cross, to live up to the basic principles of the Red Cross movement, to live up to its mission, to care for life, to protect health, to maintain dignity and to work tirelessly for the cause of peace and progress! ” The oath resounded through the square. This clank vow is the embodiment of the spirit of selfless devotion from all the volunteers, as well as a sincere confession to be a "Person of Red Cross".
After the oath, Shen Xiangnvdang, the representative of the Red Cross volunteer, took the flag from Wang Ticao, the secretary of the Party Group and the standing vice president of the Municipal Red Cross Association. She leaded all the volunteers, held the flag of Red Cross with neat steps and shout the slogans out loud, to carry out the ‘Walk and Care Your Life’ events. With the form of walking, they explained the theme of the 71th World Red Cross Day, and publicized the Red Cross spirit of "Humanitarianism, Love and Dedication" with a healthy and positive attitude and good spirit. The neat team formed a beautiful landscape on the streets, attracting passers-by to stop and watch.
At the scene of the event, the Municipal Red Cross Association and the co- agencies have expanded the social influence of the Red Cross Association by establishing propaganda and exhibition boards and issuing publicity materials to publicize the donation of hematopoietic stem cells and unpaid blood donation to the masses. They also carried out the activities such as the on-site emergency rescue popularization, the free consultation from the expects, the publicity of maternal and child-rearing knowledge and psychological health consultation. All the volunteers from every region provided services to the citizens patiently, and encouraged the citizens to actively participate in activities and donations. A total of 5 citizens donated blood and 13 citizens were registered as voluntary donors of hematopoietic stem cells, and 9 citizens were registered as voluntary donors of organs (remains).
Through holding this event, the organizers enabled the citizens and people from all walks of life to better understand the red cross culture, and have gathered more positive energy to participate in and support the work of Red Cross, so as to further promote the sustainable and healthy development of the work of Red Cross.
