Recently, the Fifth National County Tourism Research Achievement, titled “Research Report on High-Quality Development of National County-level Tourism 2023”, was unveiled in Beijing. Three counties in Lishui city, Suichang, Jinyun, and Jingning, were listed among the top 100 counties with Comprehensive Tourism Strength in 2023,while Longquan has been recognized as one of the top 100 Counties with Tourism Development Potential nationwide in 2023.

The tourism industry serves as a strategic pillar of the national economy. Throughout this year, new models and formats of tourism have continued to emerge, sparking cross-border integration and collaborative development in related industries such as “tourism + culture”, “tourism + ecology” and “tourism + sports”. This has generated a joint force to gradually expand the scale of the tourism industry and accelerate the recovery of county-level tourism.

In 2023, the scope of the National County-level Tourism Study encompasses 1866 mainland counties (including county-level cities, autonomous counties, banners, autonomous banners, special zones, and forest areas). The research system of the comprehensive strength of county tourism is based on a framework of 32 indicators across 6 dimensions: tourism economic development, governmental promotion, comprehensive industry influence, tourism development and environmental conservation, tourism facilities and services, as well as quality supervision and market regulation. Counties ranking within the top 100 in these aspects constitute the list of the Top 100 Counties with Comprehensive Tourism Strength nationwide in 2023. Two counties of Suichang and Jinyun have consistently made it onto the “Top 100 List” for five consecutive years.

Suichang county is vigorously implementing a comprehensive integration project of culture, tourism, and sports, advancing various tasks such as project construction, business model cultivation, and industrial transformation. It seizes the opportunity of tourism industry recovery, propelling the transformation and development of the culture, tourism, and sports sectors, with a focus on establishing itself as a “Yangtze River Delta outdoor sports and leisure life destination”. It has become the only county in the city to be awarded the remarkable achievement county for high-quality development of cultural undertakings and cultural tourism industry in 2022, and has achieved two honors in the province-wide actions: the creation of consumer brands in the cultural and tourism sectors and the promotion of high-quality tourism development across 26 mountainous counties in 2022 .

Jinyun County steadfastly employs the Huangdi culture to guide the integration of culture and tourism, utilizing the development of cultural and tourism industries to promote shared prosperity. The “Huangdi Culture” has been selected as a pioneering project for cultural branding and innovative cultivation in Zhejiang Province, gaining recognition as a provincial demonstration-level cultural and tourism intellectual property. In 2022, Jinyun was named one of the top 10 counties in Zhejiang for cultural and tourism integration, and was recognized for its outstanding performance in the construction and assessment of the province's cultural and tourism industry integration pilot zones. In the first quarter of this year, Jinyun achieved the top score in the comprehensive evaluation of the cultural and tourism integration project, ranking first province-wide.

Jingning county has focused on the overall goal of establishing a high-quality tourist destination showcasing the She ethnic culture and a hidden gem of Eastern China, and firmly set its sights on the direction of cultural tourism development, for this, the She Ethnic Cultural Tourism Resort has been selected as one of the initial participants in the “Moon Making Project” among the first batch of 26 mountainous counties in Zhejiang. The Sky City perched on the cliffs has gained significant popularity, and major cultural and tourism projects like the Huiming Chan Tea Culture Industrial Park and the She Ethnic Cultural and Wellness Vacation Complex are rapidly advancing. In addition, Jingning has cultivated prominent cultural and tourism super IPs such as “Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Dishes - Jingning Flavors”, “Popo Cubs”and “Feng Nini”.
