Zhejiang (Lishui) Ecological Product Trading Platform Surpasses 1,000 Forestry Carbon Sink Transactions with Turnover Exceeding 3 Million Yuan, Offsetting 40,600 Tons of Carbon Emissions

Yesterday, reporters learned from the city's Agricultural Investment Group that the forestry carbon sink transactions on the Zhejiang (Lishui) Ecological Product Trading Platform, which it operates, have exceeded 1,000 deals, with a transaction value of over 3 million yuan, successfully offsetting 40,600 tons of carbon emissions.

As the first pilot city for the realization mechanism of ecological product value in China, in recent years, the Agricultural Investment Group of Lishui City has, under the guidance of the its Development and Reform Commission, established an ecological product trading platform integrating “cloud storage, cloud transactions, cloud recruitment, and cloud services”. With market orientation as the foundation, data-driven support, value creation through connection as the goal, and an open ecosystem as the carrier, the platform has formed a new type of resource allocation method featuring multi-level storage, diversified transactions, multi-dimensional recruitment, and all-round services.

Since its official launch in June 2023, the platform has listed 30 “Zhejiang Forest Carbon Sink” projects and 8 “Lishui Carbon Inclusiveness” projects, with “Zhejiang Forest Carbon Sink” projects from eight prefecture-level cities in the province connected to the platform’s database. By continuously optimizing the transaction process and improving service quality, the platform has built a green trading bridge for trading entities both within and outside the province through its full-process digital closed-loop transaction system and the derived “Together for Carbon Neutrality” mini-program. The trading scope covers 10 prefecture-level cities, including Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Ningbo, and has achieved cross-provincial transactions.

The platform is committed to bridging forestry carbon sinks with zero-carbon scenarios and ecological damage compensation mechanisms. In the area of zero-carbon scenarios, it has supported 28 institutions in establishing “Zero-Carbon Institutions” and continues to encourage broader participation. A total of 53 “Zero-Carbon Events (Conferences)” have been created through the mini-program, including major events such as the 2025 Provincial and Municipal “Two Sessions”, and low-carbon initiatives such as marathons. In the field of ecological damage compensation, the platform has facilitated 28 compensation cases. Additionally, a “Personal Carbon Account” feature has been introduced to encourage public participation in green and low-carbon practices, with 77 individual transactions completed for personal carbon neutrality.

“Breaking the thousand-mark in forestry carbon sink transactions is a new starting point. On the one hand, we will further explore potential forestry carbon sink products, such as bamboo industry alternative projects, to enrich the range of transactions and meet the diversified market demand; on the other hand, we will continue to explore carbon sink usage scenarios to better market our products,” said Fan Wei, the person in charge of property rights transactions at the Lishui’s Agricultural Investment Group.
